Community Governance Support
There are nine Community Governance Support programs currently in development with the NIFSC Project.
1. Community Fire Safety Assessment
Assessment tool to identify community fire and life safety risks and provide communities with an assessment report and recommendations
2. Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Plan
Community specific risk reduction plan that provides mitigation and measurable outcomes to address identified risks
3. Effective Governance for Fire Service Administration
Program delivered through a workshop format designed for governance bodies to understand their role and responsibility to support the delivery of an effective fire service
4. Risk Mitigation Analysis Services
Community analysis support service to develop recommendations for governance and administration to determine the most appropriate level of fire service protection to mitigate community risk
5. Municipal Type Service Agreement (MTSA) Development
Support services to define the components of an individual community’s MTSAs based on community risks and service provider capacity
6. Fire Bylaw Development
Support services to assist governance bodies developing or refining their fire bylaws
7. Community Risk & Governance Liability
Program delivered through a workshop format designed to support governance bodies identifying and understanding risks, liability, and development of mitigation strategies
8. Fire Service Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
Program delivered through a customized governance workshop, based on the regulatory and service delivery, who are developing or reviewing an OHS program to protect fire department members
9. Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Training and Support Services
EOC training for governance bodies and ad-hoc support services to support governance response and mitigation to emergency management events
