Fire Department Operations

Fire Department Operations programs include training, equipment repairs and maintenance, and education surrounding special hazard fire protection systems. These programs support firefighters and responders at the incident response level.

There are 16 Fire Department Operations programs currently in development with the NIFSC Project.

1. Firefighter Training

Accredited firefighter training using NFPA standards

2. Fire Prevention Program Training

To assist fire departments in developing a department training program and in identifying training providers to meet the department’s specific training needs in fire prevention

3. Fire Prevention Program Planning Support

To provide advice, guidance, and resources to assist fire departments to identify a fire prevention program suitable to the department and community needs

4. Pre-Incident Planning Support

Support service for the development of pre-incident response plans and training exercises for structure fire, interface fire, and small airport responses

5. Apparatus Maintenance Support

Support service for the development and implementation of fire department apparatus maintenance schedule

6. Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Training

Accredited training for apparatus driving and pump operations

7. Fleet Management Training

Accredited training for fleet management

8. SCBA and Refill Station Maintenance Services

Support service for the operations and maintenance of SCBA equipment and refill station

9. SCBA and Refill Station Maintenance Training

Accredited training for the operations and maintenance of SCBA equipment and refill station

10. Firefighter Protective Equipment Support

Support services for fire department selection, care, and maintenance of personal protective equipment

11. Fire Department Equipment Management and Testing Services

Support services for fire department equipment management, maintenance, and manufacture recommended testing

12. Equipment Management and Testing Training

Accredited training for non-apparatus equipment management, maintenance, and testing

13. Airport Fire Operations Support

Support services for fire departments to develop and implement standards and equipment who provide fire suppression and rescue services to their community airport

14. Airport Fire Operations Equipment Maintenance Training

Support services for fire department airport fire suppression and rescue equipment management, maintenance, and manufacture recommended testing

15. Interface Structure Protection Training

Firefighter training in the deployment of structure protection equipment for interface fire operations with training to meet or exceed BC SPP-115 Structure Protection Workshop criteria

16. Interface Equipment Maintenance Support

Support services for fire department interface fire suppression equipment management, maintenance and manufacture recommended testing
