NIFSC National Incident Reporting System

The National Incident Reporting System (NIRS) is a system used to capture data, identify trends and share fire prevention, training and standards resources, allowing for the development of programs that will have the most positive impact.

Communities all have different needs and through this system, Indigenous-specific information will be captured relating to fire incidents, training, equipment, infrastructure, demographics and fire prevention activities, including the causes, origins and circumstances of fires. This is an important resource so communities can learn from challenges and success stories in other communities. Using this system, the NIFSC Project team will be able to effectively identify where new fire safety programs are needed and where improvements can be made.
