National Poster Campaign builds fire safety awareness among children

Jun 17, 2019 | Past Events

The 2018 AFAC poster campaign wrapped up with prizes being awarded to 14 individual students, 1 class, and 5 schools. This annual children’s campaign engages Indigenous communities in building fire safety awareness alongside the annual Fire Prevention Week campaign. The theme for the 2018 contest was Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere. Students created their own original artwork or coloured a provided poster. Submissions were received from all over the country.

The 2019 campaign will once again align with Fire Prevention Week, October 6-12, 2019. This year’s theme is Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practice your Escape. Campaign details will be announced mid-August, and in September, packages will be mailed to band offices and every band and federally operated school.
