The NIFSC Project Team

The newly named National Indigenous Fire Safety Council project team is organized into three main delivery streams:

  • Program Delivery: develop and deliver community fire safety and capacity development programs, with ongoing advice from the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).
  • Research: assist in the detailed definition of programs and services, and conduct analyses of fire safety data to support program evaluation and improvement.
  • Corporate Development: work with the Government of Canada and National Indigenous Organizations to establish the NIFSC as an independent, Indigenous-run organization that is mandated to improve fire safety for Indigenous Peoples and communities across the country.

The Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada (AFAC), with the advice of the National Advisory Committee (NAC), provides oversight to ensure that the project delivers on the requirements that were identified in the consultation and engagement phase that took place in 2019.
