Fire Department Operations
Fire Department Operations programs include training, equipment repairs and maintenance, and education surrounding special hazard fire protection systems. These programs support firefighters and responders at the incident response level.
There are 16 Fire Department Operations programs currently in development with the NIFSC.
701 Firefighter Training - TBD
Firefighter Training is developed to provide education and skills-based training complaint to NFPA 1001. This program will provide the necessary skills to maintain a level of service of structure firefighting.

702 Fire Prevention Program Training
The Fire Prevention Program Training program will assist communities in developing a fire prevention training program. It will provide support in identifying training programs to meet the department’s specific needs in community fire prevention. The program is a companion program to its support counterpart.

703 Fire Prevention Program Planning Support
The Fire Prevention Program Planning Support service provides advice, guidance and resources to assist a community to develop their fire prevention programs for the community. This program is a companion program to its training counterpart.

704 Pre-Incident Planning Support
This program is a support service for the development of pre-incident response plans for a fire department. These plans may assist in planning for structure fires, interface fires, and hazardous material responses based on NFPA 1620 (development of pre-incident plans).

705 Apparatus Maintenance Support
Apparatus Maintenance Support is a service for the development and implementation of fire department apparatus maintenance schedules. It is a companion program to Fleet Management Training. This program will benefit fire departments in ensuring fire apparatus are properly maintained and fulfill their expected life cycle for each unit.

706 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Training - TBD
Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Training is developed to provide education and skills-based training complaint to NFPA 1002. The program will provide opportunities for accreditation and certification. This program will provide the necessary skills to maintain a level of service of fire apparatus operations.

707 Fleet Management Training
The Fleet Management Training program is delivered in a workshop format to educate fire department personnel in all aspects of fleet management of fire department vehicles. Participants will discuss inspections, maintenance cycles, vehicle types, and apparatus life cycles.

708 SCBA and Refill Station Maintenance Services
The SCBA Management program is a workshop providing fire departments with the education to manage their SCBA equipment and compressor refill stations.

709 SCBA Use & Maintenance Training
The SCBA Use & Maintenance workshop will provide education to fire department participants in the operations and maintenance of SCBA equipment, use and daily maintenance.

710 Firefighter Protective Equipment Support
Firefighter Protective Equipment Support is a workshop to support fire department awareness of PPE and a service designed to assist afire department with the management and care of PPE.

711 Fire Department Equipment Management and Testing Services
This is a service offered to assist a fire department with proper equipment management, maintenance and manufacture recommended testing as per manufacturer recommendation and NFPA best practice standards.

712 Fire Department Equipment Management and Testing Training
The Fire Department Equipment Management and Testing Training is a workshop designed for fire department members to learn equipment management and standard regular testing for non-apparatus equipment and PPE covering compliance, preparedness, and inspection cycles.

713 Rural Airport Fire Operations Support - TBD
Rural Airport Fire Operations is a support service for fire departments that serve rural airports. It will assist with the development and implementation of standards and equipment for fire departments that provide fire suppression and rescue services to their community airport.

714 Rural Airport Fire Operations Equipment Maintenance Training
Rural Airport Fire Operations Equipment Maintenance Training program is designed to deliver training for the use and maintenance of fire department airport fire suppression and rescue equipment with the focus on manufacture recommended testing.
Delivery Resource – IFMS Delivery Specialist (airport firefighting certification) and qualified technician when required.
715 Interface Structure Protection Training - TBD
This program if designed as firefighter training in the deployment of structure protection equipment for interface fire operations. It is developed to meet or exceed BC SPP-115 Structure Protection Workshop criteria. The program may meet other regional or provincial training standards depending on the training location.

716 Interface Equipment Maintenance Support
This is a support service for fire departments with interface fire suppression equipment. The program focuses on the management, maintenance, and adherence to manufacture recommended testing.
