Fire Inspection Services

Inspection programs are designed to identify fire-related risks in communities and assist community leaders with minimizing these risks. They will also help provide building and equipment inspections.

There are eight Fire Inspection Services programs currently in development with the NIFSC.

501 Fire Code Inspection Services

The Fire Code Inspection Services support is designed to assist communities that require fire inspections. These inspections may be for residential pre-occupancy permits, public gathering buildings, health or education facilities, industrial facilities, special events or ad-hoc inspection services.

502 Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Maintenance Services

The Fire Extinguisher Inspection and Maintenance Service support provides training via a workshop format and onsite inspection and maintenance support for communities to meet regulatory, insurance or community bylaw standards.

503 Fire Inspector Training - Introduction

Fire Inspector Training Introduction is a workshop delivery designed to provide education and awareness to inspections and the inspection process outlined by NFPA 1031. The target audience is fire departments performing company inspections, building maintenance officers and administration responsible for building infrastructure.

504 Fire Inspector Training - Certified (2022/23)

NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Training – accredited.  Collaboration agreement with accredited training agency in progress.  

505 Provincial Building Code Training - Accredited - TBD

Provincial Building Code Training provides participants with education for the interpretation and application of their respective provincial building codes. This program will provide accredited training with opportunity for certification where applicable.  

506 Introduction to National Building & Fire Code

Introduction to National Building & Fire Code is a workshop delivery designed to provide education and awareness the National Building & Fire Codes The target audience is fire departments performing company inspections, building maintenance officers and administration responsible for building infrastructure.

507 Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT) Inspections - TBD

The Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)Inspection program is designed to assist communities that require WETT inspections for insurance, installation of appliances, or community maintenance standards.

508 Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT) Inspector Training - TBD

The Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)Inspector Training program is developed to provide the education and mentorship required to meet the national WETT certified inspector’s standard. This program is delivered in partnership with IFMS. 

Accredited WETT Training agencies only provide the accredited training, certification requires a mentorship process, IFMS will support student post training with the required mentorship to apply for WETT certification.
